Tenth Leg

An exposed scramble leads to the summit.

The final leg is an exposed scramble to the summit with precipitous dropoffs.

Bell's CanyonBell's Canyon lies below on the East, but sheer cliffs line the West edge of the scramble route.

approaching the summitScott:  Just 500 feet up to the peak.  Not far, but the most exposed part of the mountain.  The view just kept getting better all the way up.  Upper Bell's and Big Willow Canyons, Salt Lake and Utah Valleys all incredible from this viewpoint.  Only one word can describe this place that few have been:  Incredible.  Worth every step of pain on the way down.

Jeff:  The north shoulder of the peak is wide open, nothing to block the views, and the sights to the east are amazing: the endless granite of Upper Bells swinging upward from the north, snow still clinging to the back side of Lone Peak even though it was late August, and mountain range after mountain range receding into the distance to the east.  I could have sat there for a couple hours, but knew that we had to get going.

summit blocksAndrew:  Like he said, worth every step.
